The Pomodoro® Training is organized in six parts.
PART 01 - The Pomodoro® Internal Process
Turn time from a vicious Predator to the greatest ally to improve your productivity
How to recognize the predator?
Time is limited. We can't have as much as we want, neither stop it nor slow it down. When our mind realizes that it cannot control time, we get scared and time appears to us as a vicious predator. Procrastination and low productivity are the effect of the anxiety we feel when we realize that time is limited.
In this session, you learn how to apply the Pomodoro® Internal Process to deal with time as a limited human resource and get rid of anxiety and procrastination. The Pomodoro® Internal Process enables you to deal with the anxious requests of the predator. You learn how to develop an effective conversation with the predator and work productively.
PART 02 - The Pomodoro® Core Process
Complete a single activity with no interruptions and no procrastination in a sustainable way
How to deal with the predator while we're working on a task?
You're working on a task, the predator can show up in your mind: "Do you want to take a break... now? With all the things you have to do?" or “Let’s order some pizza!”
In this session, you learn how to apply the Pomodoro® Core Process to stay focused on each of your tasks and reach your goals with less effort and less anxiety. You learn how to use simple tools such as index cards, a pen and a Pomodoro® timer to focus on your current task. You also learn how to deal with internal and external interruptions and avoid procrastination.
PART 03 - Daily Individual Process
Complete several activities and plan your day
How to deal with the predator during the day?
You have to work on multiple tasks during the day. While you're working, the predator can show up in your mind: "Wouldn't it be better to work on another task?" or "Aren't you forgetting about something else you need to do?"
In this session, you learn how to apply the Pomodoro® Daily Individual Process to plan your day, prioritize your tasks and find opportunities to improve your work process and "make" time. You learn how to use the Activity Inventory to organize, estimate and prioritize tasks and the To Do Today Sheet to plan your day. You also learn how to use the Pomodoro® Records Sheet to track your completed Pomodoros and collect data about how you work. This will enable you to observe your work process, identify opportunities to improve it and find ways to complete your tasks in less time. That's how you will make time to dedicate to other activities.
PART 04 - Mastering the Pomodoro® Technique
Make your tasks simpler and more motivating to be completed
How to deal with the predator when we have to work on complex tasks?
Your task is difficult to complete. The deadline is coming! You see no progress. The predator is approaching. You are scared. You decide to "run" but this strategy doesn't work: your task appears more difficult to complete.
In this session, you learn how to stop in front of the predator and reduce the complexity of your task.
You apply the Pomodoro® Rule "If it takes more than 5 to 7 pomodoros, break it down" to split your tasks into a series of simpler value-driven tasks. You learn how to identify and avoid dangerous hierarchies of subtasks. By learning how to effectively split your tasks by value, you reach your goals with less effort.
PART 05 - The Pomodoro® Weekly Process
Reach many goals and plan your week with a time plan
How can we deal with the predator during the week?
You have to get some multiple goals completed by the end of the week. You organize your week in time slots and nearing the end, the predator shows up: "You're late... don't stop... keep working on this goal for the rest of the day..." We all have multiple goals to reach every week: individual, family, team, work goals. How can we complete them all?
In this session, you learn to apply the Pomodoro® Weekly Process to define an effective Time Slot-Driven Plan in order to reach multiple goals with less effort and anxiety. You learn the principles and practices to identify timeslots and combine them in an effective way during week. You also learn how to organize your weekly Time Plan to deal with interruptions, uncertainty and change.
PART 06 - The Pomodoro® Team Process, Tools and Practices
Reach your goals in a group, team or family
How to deal with the Predator while we're working in your team?
You work in a team and your team needs to reach their goals. New occasions for your predator to show up in your mind: "Aren't you too slow to complete this task? Are you going to become a bottleneck for the team?" "Shouldn't this task be something someone else should work on?"
In this session, you learn how to apply the Pomodoro® Process for Teams to organize, prioritize and reach your team multiple goals. You are introduced to the Pomodoro tools: Activity Inventory, ToDo Today Sheet and Records Sheet when working in a team. You learn how to apply Pomodoro® team practices to deal with interruptions, uncertainty, change, and complex or urgent tasks.
