ABOUT THE POMODORO® TECHNIQUE
The goal of the Pomodoro® technique is to change how our mind perceives Time. Applying the technique means
looking for and developing a positive relationship with Time: turn Time into an ally.
The technique is made up of principles, practices, processes, tools - the timer, the activity inventory, the records sheet - rules
and objectives.
The whole technique share one main principle: increase your awareness.
You need to master the principles behind the technique - detachment,
observation and continual feedback, dependency inversion -
in order to develop an effective relationship with Time.
Through the application of these principles
you can increase your awareness and develop a positive relationship with Time.
This way you'll increase your productivity in a sustainable way.
ABOUT THIS TRAINING LEVEL
This training represents the first of the four levels in the Pomodoro® Training Program.
In this training, Francesco will propose you to achieve two objectives:
- Set up a daily routine: the Pomodoro® Daily Process.
- Set up a weekly routine: the Pomodoro® Weekly Process.
To consistently reach those objectives, we need Time to help us supporting them.
WHY?
Ever happened to start applying a reasonable time management tip or technique and then drop it?
As long as we see Time as a vicious predator, we experience applying of any productivity technique
as a Time thief. Forcing ourselves to apply a time management tip, practice or technique ends up feeding our anxiety. The predator takes over and soon we will abandon it.
During this training, Francesco will explain two important concepts.
1. How to turn Time into an ally thanks to the principles of the Pomodoro® Technique in order to support and make consistent our Pomodoro® processes.
None of us likes to procrastinate our commitments or run when we are late and our deadline is coming. Behind these reactions there is often fear and anxiety. We see time running by as a vicious predator. We don't know how to deal with that predator - the limit given by our deadlines - and we implement dysfunctional reactions: we run, we paralyze, or we find shortcuts. All this creates a sense of guilt and frustration that feeds our fear of not making it and develops a vicious circle: fear and anxiety, sense of guilt, more fear and anxiety...
We may meet our deadlines... but how? Usually we feel exhausted and not fully satisfied of the result of our work.
The entire Pomodoro® technique is built to effectively deal with the fear of "Time as Predator" and turn the vicious circle mentioned above into a virtual circle.
When we manage to realize that Time can help us reach our goals, if we know how it can help us, we stop running, procrastinating and finding shortcuts. We trust ourselves, think and find solutions.
To do this, during the training Francesco will continuously train a set of principles of the Pomodoro® Technique: inverting the dependency on Time, regulating complexity, detachment, observation and continual feedback, sustainable pace.
As you will see these principles are extremely effective to deal with our Predator.
2. The Pomodoro® Technique isn't just a timer ;)
During the training, Francesco will introduce you to two Pomodoro® processes (daily and weekly) and to the values, principles and practices of the technique.
"But... isn't the Pomodoro® Technique just a timer to be set for 25 minutes?"
If you read some blog posts on the Internet you might develop the idea that the Pomodoro® Technique is the art of setting a timer to 25 minutes :) and work without interruptions.
Actually The Pomodoro® technique is a complete time management training program consisting of values, principles, tools, practices, processes, goals and rules.
The Pomodoro® timer is the central tool in the technique, but it is just a part of it!
The aim of the technique is to learn how to deal with the Predator and turn it into our best ally to become more productive with fun and no anxiety.
WHO IS IT FOR?
If you have a deadline and are afraid to fail, if you are used to procrastinating, if you interrupt yourself or if you are constantly interrupted, this training is for you.
WHERE ARE YOU IN THE POMODORO® TRAINING PROGRAMME?
This training is the fundamental step to start an effective personal or team time management training: you will learn how to manage the fear of the limit given by time running.
These are the next steps...
In Pomodoro® Training Level 02
you will learn how to consistently apply the different practices, processes, tools and rules provided in the technique for 21 days. The training is structured in such a way as to achieve the six objectives of the technique one after the other.
In Pomodoro® Training Level 03 you will learn how to complete complex goals and tasks. You'll learn how the Pomodoro® Technique can help you reach your goals in scenarios characterized by interdependent tasks, bottlenecks and interactions with people or teams.
In Pomodoro® Training Level 04
you will become an Official Pomodoro® Trainer. You will learn how to transfer your Pomodoro® Technique time management experience to other people and how to create Pomodoro® Time Fitness Plans to individuals and teams and monitor their progress.
